Ginger, as you know is good for your health and has got a lot of health benefits. You get ginger powder by drying fresh ginger and then grinding it in to a fine powder. It is off white in color and has a pungent flavor and rich aroma. You can store it for a long time, as long as 1 year.

Acne:

Ginger powder has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties and these properties are made use in treating acne and pimples. It helps in killing the bacteria that cause acne and also helps in unclogging the pores and keeping the pores clean.

Toner:

Take four cups of water in a bowl and add 2 teaspoons of dry ginger powder to it. Boil this till it becomes half in volume. Strain it and then allow it to cool. After it gets cooled, add a few drops of lavender oil smeary oil to it. Mix them well and pour this in to a glass bottle and store it in the refrigerator. When you need to use it, apply this all over your face with cotton. This is an excellent toner and keeps your skin healthy and hydrated. It also removes all the impurities from your skin and prevents dryness of the skin.

Ant-inflammatory:

The anti-inflammatory properties of dry ginger powder may be made use of in treating arthritis. Boil water with 2 to 3 tablespoons of ginger powder and drink it. You will get relief from swollen joints. If there is pain on the swollen joints, you can apply a paste of this powder on the knee joints and you will get relief.

Common cold:

Ginger powder is often used for treating common cold and to get relief from it

  • To treat common cold you may either have raw ginger or make tea with dry ginger powder and drink it many times a day.
  • Make a paste of dry ginger powder with salt and clove and have this twice a day. This will cure all symptoms of cold.
  • If you have a running nose, take dry ginger powder and jaggery and consume it.

Chest pain:

If you have chest pain due to acidity, mix this powder with sugar in tender coconut water  and drink it. This will ease your chest pain.

Cooking:

When you make curries, gravies, stews and marinades, you can add dry ginger powder to the spices and masalas that are added to them.

You can make masala tea by mixing cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and fennel with dry ginger powder.

It is also added to marinades that are used in tandoori starters, vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes.

Another remedy is to mix dry ginger powder with 2 to 3 drops of lemon juice and half a teaspoon of carom seeds and make a thick paste out of these ingredients. Let it dry in the shade. Taking 1 gm of this with salt daily in the morning and evening is enough to clear flatulence.

Ginger bath keep your skin clean and protect it from various infections. Take 1 teaspoon of dry ginger powder and equal amount of baking soda and mix them well. Rub this mixture on your body slowly and gently. This helps in cleaning your skin and providing you a smooth and soft skin.

Headache:

If you have headache, you will get relief from it by applying a paste of dry ginger powder on your forehead. You can also apply it on your throat to treat throat pain.

Metabolism:

Consuming dry ginger powder regularly helps in improving the metabolism of your body and to burn off the excess of fat in your body. This is because it is rich in thermogenic agents, which have the ability to burn fat and prevent obesity. This is also good for lowering the level of cholesterol and triglycerides in the body.

If you want to lose weight, drinking ginger tea is an excellent remedy. Add half teaspoon of dry ginger powder in one cup of hot water and dissolve well. Drink this every day and you can lose weight easily. If you want it sweet, ad some honey to it.

Take dry ginger powder and mix it with milk powder to get a fine paste. Clean your face and apply this paste on your face and the neck and let it stay for about 20 minutes. Wash off with water and dry with a clean towel. Apply a good moisturizer on the skin. Using this once in a week is enough to protect your skin from acne and breakouts.
