Yoga Poses or Asanas for Faster Hair Growth

Everyone loves to have thick and healthy hair. But most of the people suffer from some hair problem and lose hair. Some may lose hair uncontrollably due to many reasons. Some of the reasons for heavy hair loss is ageing, stress, medication, improper diet, hormonal changes, using too much of hair styling products and genetics. Stand on the yoga mat and keep your feet flat. You can keep your hands on either side of your body. Let the palms of your hands face the thighs. Now bring the upper part of your body downwards slowly and as you do so, bring the palms to the ground. Tuck in your tummy and inhale deeply. Stay in this position for a minute and then you can come back to the initial position as you exhale.

Balayam yoga or Rubbing nails posture:

Rubbing your nails is a yoga exercise that is very easy to do. You can practice this pose any time of the day. To do this pose, curl the fingers of both your hands inwards to the palms. Now bring all the nails in contact with each other and rub them. You can practice this pose for two minutes at a time. This helps in hair growth because the nerves below the nail bed are connected to the scalp. When you rub your finger nails against each other, there is an increased flow of blood and oxygen to the scalp. This helps in rejuvenating the hair follicles and enhances air growth by controlling DHT. As a result, you will get thick and strong hair. It is also good for preventing graying hair. Practicing this pose also helps in getting you relief from headaches and healing neurological disorders of the brain.

Kapalbhati is like meditation and is invented by Guru Ramdev. It is a breathing exercise and by practicing it regularly, you can get rid of various ailments. Sit straight on the floor and keep your legs crossed in front of you. Take in a deep breath and then exhale the air in quick, short bursts. As you exhale, try to make a puffing sound. Repeat this several times. As you exhale, pull in your abdominal muscles.

Matsyasana or Fish pose:

Matsyasana or fish pose is also very effective for hair growth. It is easy to perform. Lie down on the yoga mat on your back and keep your hands at the back of your thighs. Keep your spine straight. Now pull your stomach portion upwards by applying pressure on your elbows. Remain in this pose for thirty seconds and then you can come back to the original position.

Sarvangasana or Shoulder stand pose:

This pose is very effective for healthy growth of hair. By doing this pose, the circulation of blood to the head is increased. Lie on the floor on your back and lift your legs up so that they are at right angles to the floor. Exhale and try to raise your waist as you do so. Push your legs backwards beyond the head.

Sasangasana or Rabbit pose:

Rabbit pose is also great for making your hair grow well. Sit on your knees on the yoga mat and keep your hips on your heels. Now put your hands on your back and try to hold your heels with your hands. Remain in this pose for two minutes and then get back to the original position.

Uttanasana or Standing forward bend pose:

To do this pose, you have to stand straight on the floor. Now inhale deeply and bend forward, so that your palms touch the ground. Remain in this position for about 30 seconds and then you can come back to the initial position.

Ustrasana or Camel pose:

Practicing camel pose regularly is very effective for rejuvenating hair blood cells and to stimulate better growth of hair. It was Baba Ramdev, a popular yoga guru in India, who advised people to do this yoga for hair growth. To do this exercise, you have to sit on the mat on your knees. Keep your hands on your waist in such a way that your thumbs are pointing behind you. Now lift your body and try to hold your feet with your hands. Remain this pose for 30 seconds and then return back to the initial pose.

Uttanpadasana or Raised feet pose:

This yoga pose is different from the uattanasana. Here you do not have to push your legs backwards nor lift your hips. All you have to do is to raise your legs and keep them at ninety degree angles to the floor.

Vajrasana or Thunderbolt pose:

This pose is also known diamond pose and practising it helps in improving the circulation of blood in the upper part of your body. To perform this pose, sit on your knees and rest your back on your heels. Place your palms on your knees and keep the palms of your hands facing downwards. Make sure that you keep your back straight. Now you have to inhale and exhale deeply. You can sit in this position for 2 minutes at a time.

    I have heard that yoga is very good for stimulating hair growth. Especially Balayam yoga i.e. rubbing of the nails is excellent for hair growth.
