Yoga Poses to Prevent Hair fall and Promote Hair Growth

Every woman wants long and beautiful hair. Hair loss is a common problem, which causes lot of stress and worries. It can be due to a number of various factors, and controlling hair loss seems to be an issue for many. Yoga is here at your rescue. A few simple asanas in yoga can help you regain your lost hair. Adho Mukha Svanasana:

  • Sit down with your knees and hands touching the ground, and your hands perpendicular to the knees and shoulders.
  • Push up your hips as you straighten your legs and stand on your toes.
  • Push the floor hard with your palms, and make your spine straight.
  • Now, pull your hips down. Perform this step slowly, as you reach back to the first position.

Balayam Yoga Steps for Hair Loss:

It was Baba Ramdev who made this asana so famous all over. It is very simple. Just follow these steps:

  • This asana can be performed either by standing or sitting down.
  • Take the fingers of both your hands and curl them inwards. They must all now point towards your palm.
  • Now, bring your hands towards each other and bring the nails of all the fingers in contact with each other. Each nail must touch the corresponding nail in the other hand. Once they touch each other, start rubbing them. Do not use the thumbnails for this.
  • Rub vigorously for 5 minutes continuously.

Balayam yoga is very effective and also treats premature graying of hair and dandruff issues. The roots of your hair follicles are connected to the nails, and while rubbing the provide energy to your scalp. This aids in hair growth.

Matsyasana:

  • Lie down on the floor. Your body must be straight, with the legs touching each other. Put your hands behind your thighs with the palms facing down.
  • Pull up the middle part of your upper torso by putting the pressure on your elbows. Drop your head backwards. The crown of your head should touch the floor after you do this.
  • Now, an arch should have been formed between your hips and crown. Take deep breaths to fill in maximum amount of oxygen to your lungs. Breathe in as much as you can.

Sasangasana:

  • Sit down on your knees and put your hips on your heels.
  • Bring your hands to the back and touch your heels with them.
  • Bring your head down to touch the floor with the crown of your head and breathe in slowly as you lift your hips up.
  • Stay in this position as you take 5 breaths.
  • Slowly breathe out and bring yourself back to the first pose.
  • Relax for a while and repeat the process again.

In this position, blood flows to the head when your head in on the floor. This enhances hair growth.

Uttapadasana or the Raised Feet Pose:

  • Lie down on your yoga mat. Your arms must be at your sides and palms should face the floor.
  • Stretch out your body. Raise your legs slowly. They should reach an angle of about 45 to 60 degrees from the ground.
  • Stay in this position and keep your legs raised at this angle for more than a minute. Hold it as long as you can.
  • Bring your legs down slowly and relax.

Uttanasana:

  • Stand straight, and keep your legs close such that the knees, feet, heels and toes touch each other.
  • Take a deep breath.
  • Lift your hands as you are exhaling, bend forward, and touch the floor with your hands.
  • You could also bring your hands behind your heels if you are able to.
  • Stay in this position and breathe normally.
  • Stand back straight, and take a deep breath.
  • In the beginning, you may not be able to touch the floor, so it is enough if you hold the elbows of each arm using the palm of the other hand.

Ustrasana:

  • Sit on your knees on the floor. Your body must be straight and the knees should form a right angle.
  • Hold the waist with your hands. The fingers should point in front and the thumb should be behind.
  • Arch your spine backwards and touch the heels of your feet with your hands.
  • While bending your spine, move your face upwards and face the ceiling.
  • Stay in this pose for a few seconds. Breathe normally.
  • As you stand straight, breathe out.
  • Relax in Balasana or baby pose.

While performing this asana, be careful of the following:

  • Make sure not too bend too much in the beginning, as you could hurt your back.
  • Only people with a flexible body could do this.

Vajrasana:

  • Sit down straight on the floor. Your spine must be straight, legs stretched, and heels together.
  • Put your hands on the sides with the palms facing the ground.
  • Fold your legs and bring them below your thighs. Use the left leg first, and right leg next.
  • Put your hands on your thighs now.
  • Relax and take deep breaths.
  • After some time, go back to the first position.

When you do this asana, blood circulation in the scalp is increased. This enables the hair follicles to grow.

There are more asanas that are good for your hair like the Sarvangasana or Shoulder Stand Pose and Sirshasana or Headstand Pose. Your body must be made flexible for performing these two poses, as they are a bit difficult for people who are just beginning. There is also the Anuloma Viloma, which is alternate nostril breathing exercise, and the kapalbhati, which are really good for relieving stress and controlling the loss of hair.

Yoga is a natural treatment, which is really effective for all kinds of treatments, including hair loss. It is best done right in the morning on an empty stomach.
