How to Use Vinegar to treat or remove Dandruff?

Dandruff is a problem that many people suffer from. It is found especially in teenagers during their growing stage, when many hormonal changes occur. Dandruff may be dry and flaky and appear as a white powdery substance on your scalp and hair, or it may appear as sticky white substance on the scalp, keeping the scalp and the hair near the scalp sticky. There are different reasons for the dandruff to appear on your hair. It may be seen on dry a well as oily skin. Change of seasons may also cause its formation. Not drying your hair well makes it stay damp and cause the formation of dandruff. Another reason is not shampooing your hair properly. If you shampoo your hair and do not wash well with water and remove all the traces of shampoo, you may get dandruff.  Stress and improper diet are other reasons for getting dandruff.

There are different ways to get rid of dandruff. Whatever method you adopt, you must always remember to keep your hair clean. Too much of oil on your hair should also be avoided. You can apply oil and then wash it off with a mild shampoo. Never use strong shampoos when you have dandruff. Vinegar is an efficient way to cure dandruff. Some of the methods by which you can treat dandruff with vinegar are:

Apple cider rinse:

You can use apple cider vinegar as a final rinse when you shampoo your hair. Mix apple cider vinegar with water in the ratio of one part of the vinegar to three parts of water. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo that is SLS free. Wash well and remove all traces of the shampoo. Then rinse your hair with the diluted vinegar. Wait for 10 minutes after rinsing the hair with vinegar. After 10 minutes, massage your hair gently using your finger tips and wash off with water. When you apply it on your hair, take care that it does not get in to your eyes, because it can sting your eyes. If you do not have apple cider vinegar at home, you can use white vinegar instead.

Aspirin and Vinegar rinse:

Take three tablets of aspirin and crush it well. Add it to 1 cup on apple cider vinegar and mix well. Apply this on wet hair after shampooing your hair. Leave the mixture on the hair for 5 minutes and then wash your hair thoroughly with water. Apply a conditioner and then rinse your hair with water. Dry the hair well.

Banana with vinegar:

Take a banana, peel it and then mix with 2 cups of vinegar. Stir the mixture till they are mixed well. You can use a fork or a whisk for mixing them and making a paste. Apply this mixture on your hair thoroughly. Massage well on your scalp. Massage for about 10 minutes and ensure that it covers your hair well. Leave for 20 minutes and then wash off thoroughly with water. Initially use this every day for one week and then you may use it once a week. You can see a significant change in the appearance of dandruff on your hair.

Baking soda and vinegar:

Wash your hair with water, and then mix malt vinegar and white wine vinegar in equal quantities. You can make about 100 ml of this mixture. Now apply this mixture on your scalp and massage well throughout your scalp. Leave for about 5 to 10 minutes. You may feel a sting on your scalp, but you need not worry. It is just working on your scalp and removing dead cells of the skin that are responsible for causing dandruff. Now wash with cold water. Take half a tablespoon of baking soda mix with water and then apply on your damp hair. Massage well on all parts of your scalp, leave for 3 to 5 minutes, wash well with water and then dry your hair. Comb your hair well with a clean comb after your hair dries up. This will remove any remaining flakes of the dandruff from your hair.

Chamomile tea+Vinegar:

Take 200 ml of chamomile tea without adding milk and then add about one tablespoon of white vinegar to it. The tea is good for your hair and it also reduces the strong smell of vinegar. Chamomile acts as a good conditioner for your hair. Use the mixture of tea and the vinegar as a rinse, leave it for 5 minutes and then wash off with water.

Tea Tree oil+Vinegar massage:

Take three tablespoons of vinegar and mix it with 3 drops of tea tree oil. Apply this mixture on your scalp and wait for 10 minutes. Then wash off with a mild shampoo. Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and if you use it regularly on your scalp, you will find that the appearance of dandruff on your hair is greatly reduced. There is also the option to add tea tree oil to the shampoo your use on your hair. This also provides you good results.

Vinegar massage:

For this you have to take three tablespoons of vinegar and massage well on the scalp. Take care to massage the scalp only and not the entire length of the hair. If you apply vinegar on the entire hair, it will only dry your hair. After massaging the vinegar gently o your scalp, leave it for about 10 minutes. Then wash your hair using a mild shampoo. You must only use mild shampoo as it will not damage your hair and scalp. After the shampoo apply a good conditioner.

Regular use of vinegar can greatly reduce dandruff on your hair, but it makes the hair so squeaky clean that it may reduce the formation of essential oils on your scalp and hair. It may also make your hair dry. So you must massage your hair with a good oil to keep it healthy and well nourished.
