If your skin is prone to pimples and acne, then prevention is the best option. Here are various ways by which you can prevent acne. Pimples can come up due to various factors like excess secretion of sebum, bacterial infection, clogging of pores, accumulation of dead skin cells and grime, unhealthy lifestyle and diet, drinking less water and also due to heredity or genes. Avoid touching your face:
Do not touch your face with your hands. Try to keep your hands away from your face. Do not put your cheeks or chin on your hands or any dirty surface as this can cause bacteria to spread. It is also important that you do not pop, prick or squeeze the pimple. This will spread the infection to other areas of the skin and may cause scarring. Before you touch you face, make sure that you wash your hands with an antibacterial soap. Try to keep your hair away from your face as this can also cause infection of the skin.
Follow a Healthy lifestyle:
A good lifestyle helps you a lot in preventing pimples. Wash your face regularly to remove diet, makeup, grime etc that accumulate on your skin. Cleansing your face removes dead skin cells and other contaminants from the skin. Always apply a toner after cleansing. Do not pop the pimples and do not use cleansers that can disturb the skin balance. A lot of good brands are available in the market, which that help in treating acne prone skin.
Exercise regularly and eat healthy:
Make sure that you exercise at least for 30 minutes daily. This will keep the hormone levels balanced and also remove toxins from your body. As a result pimples are reduced. It is also important that you get proper sleep. Along with exercise, you also need to have a well balanced diet. Reduce carbohydrates, dairy products and sugar and include fruits and vegetable in good amounts. Drink lots of water as this keeps you hydrated and removes toxins from the body.
Never skip moisturizing:
Acne prone skin also needs moisturizing. If it is not properly moisturized, the sebaceous glands will produce more sebum and this can lead to acne breakout. Use a moisturizer that is light weight, oil free, and water based or gel based. This will keep your skin hydrated without making it oily.
Wash or change pillows and towels regularly:
If your pillow case, bed sheets and bath towels are dirty, they may harbor bacteria. So it is important that you wash them regularly. You must also wash your makeup brushes and sponges frequently to make sure that no bacteria are growing on them.
Natural and Effective Remedies to Remove Pimples:
Aloe vera:
Applying aloe vera gel on your skin helps in curing and preventing acne. It removes the oil from the skin and keeps your skin soft and healthy.
Apple cider vinegar:
Apple cider vinegar helps in curing acne and pimples by regulating the pH of the skin. Take one cup of water and add half a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to it. Dip a cotton wool in it and apply it on your skin, especially on the affected areas. Leave it overnight and wash off with water next morning.
Baking soda:
Mix baking soda and lemon juice and apply this on your face. This can prevent and cure pimples. This is good for all types of skin. Cleanse you face before you apply it. Wash off after 5 minutes of applying this paste. Apply a good moisturizer on your skin after washing with water.
Garlic:
Garlic contains sulfur, which is an anti-septic as well as antioxidant, antifungal and antiviral agent. So garlic is very effective for removing and healing pimples. Apply the juice of garlic on your face and wait for about 5 minutes. Wash off with water. Do this daily to get best results.
Honey:
Honey is great for preventing acne as well as to cure them. The antibiotic property of honey helps in reducing inflammation as well as healing of the affected areas. After applying honey on your skin, leave it for 30 minutes and then wash off with tepid water. This will provide you healthy and glowing skin.
Ice cubes:
To get rid of pimples quickly, you can rub ice cubes on your skin. Ice helps in freezing the pores of the skin and removes the excess of oil and dirt that have accumulated in the pores. Ice cubes are also effective for reducing swelling of the skin.
Mint leaves:
Apply the juice of mint leaves on the affected areas and leave overnight. This helps in removing acne and acne scars.
Oatmeal:
Oatmeal acts as a gentle exfoliant and removes impurities from the skin. It absorbs the excess oil present on the skin and this helps in removing pimples. Cook oatmeal as you cook it normally and then cool it. Apply this after cleansing your face and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash off with water and apply a toner and moisturizer.
Orange:
You can prevent pimples by applying orange juice on your skin by dipping cotton swab in the juice. If you already have pimples on your face, apply the juice of orange on the affected areas and leave overnight. Always use fresh juice as they do not contain any preservatives. You can dry orange peels and powder these dried peels. Store this in an airtight container. Take a little of this powder and mix with water to get a paste. Apply this on your face after you cleanse your face.
Tooth paste:
You can make pimples dry and disappear by applying tooth paste over the pimples. Use tooth paste that contains silica. By applying ice over the face before applying tooth paste, the result will be better. Let the tooth paste stay on your face for 30 minutes before you wash with water. You can apply this 2 to 3 times for faster removal of acne.
