Avocado causes allergy:
Avocado can adversely affect the skin. It can lead to terrible skin issues with allergies being the major effect. Symptoms of allergy that you suffer by consuming avocados are hives, redness in the skin, itching and eczema. Sometimes not even consumption but even exposure to avocados can cause allergic reactions in people. Such people are advised not to use avocados even for skin care and hair care.
Adverse effects of avocado:
Some people consuming avocado suffer adverse effects like paralysis, flu, gastrointestinal disorder, vomiting, fever, migraine, nausea, asthma and drowsiness. So if you are thinking of including avocado in your regular diet to get its benefits, make sure that you start slow and consume it in small quantities at first. If you do not face any allergic reactions mentioned above, then you can include it in your diet without any worry. But if you experience any of the symptoms, then it is better to avoid eating this fruit and look for an alternative fruit.
Avoid during pregnancy and breast feeding:
Pregnant women and breast feeding mothers are advised not to consume avocado as it can reduce the production of milk and cause damage to the mammary gland. If the pregnant lady consumes too much of avocados, it can cause stomach upset in the baby.
Cause mouth allergy:
Consuming avocados can lead to mouth allergy also. Symptoms that you suffer include itching sensation in the mouth, swelling tongue and so on.
Drugs:
Avocados are rich in Vitamin K and this makes it beneficial for people with blood clots. But you should consume this fruit in moderate amounts only. If you consume it in excess, it can make your blood thin, so that it can lead to bruising and bleeding. Similarly, people on blood thinning medication should avoid consumption of avocados as it can interfere with the medicines and cause bleeding and bruising.
Gastrointestinal irritation:
Consuming avocados in excess can cause stomach upset. Sometimes it can also cause gastrointestinal irritation.
If you are on diet restrict consumption of avocado:
Avocado contains calories in high amounts. So if you are on a weight loss diet, you should avoid consuming avocados as this can lead to an increase in the body weight.
Liver damage:
One of the major and serious side effects of avocados is that it has the ability to damage the health of your liver. There are certain types of avocado oils that can lead to liver damage. Try not to consume Mexican avocado which consists of estragole and anethole. This is because these elements have been tested for carcinogenic reactions. So, if you consume them, it can cause damage to your liver. In case you are suffering from compromised liver function, you should completely stop consuming avocados in order to avoid suffering from avocado oil side effects.
No avocado in hypersensitivity:
Those who are hypersensitive should avoid consuming avocados as it can cause vomiting and skin reaction.
Reduce cholesterol:
Avocado has the power to reduce the levels of cholesterol in the body. By reducing the bad cholesterols in the body, it helps in preventing heart stroke, heart attack, atherosclerosis, irregular heartbeat and so on. But if you consume this fruit in excess, it can cause harm to your body. This is because it is rich in beta-sitosterol. Beta-sitosterol absorbs bad cholesterol from the body ad provides you a lot of benefits. But when this is present in excess in your body, it starts absorbing good cholesterol form the body. As you know, good cholesterol is needed for carrying out many functions of the body like removal of bad cholesterol, maintaining the inner wall of the blood vessels and so on. Sensitivity to latex:
If you are sensitive to latex, you should never consume avocados because it can increase the level of serum lgE antibodies in the body. This can lead to allergic reactions.
Too much fibre is bad:
Avocados are rich sources of dietary fibre. By consuming 100 gm of avocados you get about 7 gm of dietary fibre. This is about 25% of the fibre you need per day on the basis of 2000 calorie diet. Dietary fibres are very beneficial for the body and ensure proper removal of waste from the body. As a result you do not experience constipation and your digestive system is kept healthy.
But too much of fibre can cause some problems like stomach upset, bloating, diarrhoea, gastrointestinal irritation and so on. So, it is recommended that you consume avocados in moderate amounts.
